The Ontario magazine publishing industry is extremely diverse, embracing consumer, trade and professional magazines, along with business-to-business academic and scientific publications. More than 45% of the top Ontario-produced consumer magazines are sold or delivered outside of the province.

With OMDC support, Magazines Canada has created a Digital Newsstand, offering more the 150 titles online. Canadian magazines, large and small, can easily reach new readers all over the world – for example, a small niche title, SkyNews, has sold digital subscriptions in 17 countries around the world. Sales from the Digital Newsstand have been impressive, with thousands of subscriptions, as well as individual current and backlist issues sold.
