Ontario is a natural beauty. Go ahead and turn our spectacular vistas, urban streetscapes and varying weather conditions into the looks you need. We won’t mind at all!
In Toronto you’ll find steel and glass skyscrapers, European streetscapes, industrial buildings, an Ivy League style university, inner city neighbourhoods, a pioneer village, three Chinatowns, and a castle! Thanks to the city’s ethnic and cultural diversity, stories set in New York, Boston, Washington, Vienna, Warsaw, Tokyo, and Tehran have all been shot in Toronto.
Outside of Toronto, the province offers a remarkable array of diverse locations from the industrial majesty of Hamilton to Northern Ontario’s wilderness and tundra to Ottawa’s magnificent iconic buildings and parks. As well, we have many idyllic small towns that resemble the American Midwest and New England.
The Ontario Film Commission division of the OMDC Industry Development Group is available to help you take your project from script to screen. Film Commission services are second to none and are often cited as being key in the decision to shoot here. Producers can provide a script or list of locations and we will prepare an OMDC Image Package of possible locations to demonstrate that we have the looks that the project needs. Whether scouting via our Digital Locations Database or through original field scouting, we provide our clients with world class service.
OMDC maintains the award-winning Digital Locations Database for over 11,800 distinct locations found throughout the Province of Ontario, representing over 250,000 individual images. Whether during development, prep, or production, industry professionals, including producers, directors, location managers and scouts, rely upon the OMDC Digital Locations Database to help find those important locations that will best tell their story.
The Digital Locations Database is available to anyone interested in previewing a wide variety of the province’s many diverse locations. The password-protected portion of the site is available upon registration to personnel working in the film and TV production industry.
