Ontario Magazines Garner Acclaim at the National Magazine Awards (NMAs) and Digital Publishing Awards (DPAs)!

National Magazine Awards – Congratulations to all Winners!
Gold, Silver and Honourable Mention awards were announced at the Arcadian Court in Toronto on May 26, 2017 at the 40th anniversary National Magazine Awards gala.

Huge congratulations to Cottage Life for being named Magazine of the Year.   Penny Caldwell, Publisher, Cottage Life, Foundation Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Cottage Life had another reason to celebrate, with publisher Penny Caldwell receiving the Foundation Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Congratulations to other OMDC-supported winners Toronto Life, Macleans, The Walrus and NOW Magazine. The Walrus led all magazines with 6 awards (2 Gold Medals and 4 Silver Medals). This is the tenth time in the magazine’s history that The Walrus has won the most total awards at the NMAs. NOW Magazine’s “Love Your Body” issue was a double winner, taking the Silver Medal in Portrait Photography and the Silver Medal in Best Words & Pictures.

Digital Publishing Awards 

The Digital Publishing Awards were awarded on June 1, 2017 at the Spoke Club in Toronto.

The Digital Publishing Awards recognizes excellence in the content and creation of Canadian digital publications. The National Magazine Awards Foundation presented Gold and Silver awards in 21 categories at this year’s Digital Publishing Awards Soirée, held at The Spoke Club on Thursday June 1 in Toronto’s King West district, and hosted by author and illustrator Evan Munday.

OMDC-Supported Magazines Win at the Canadian Magazine Editor’s Association Awards
Precedent founder Melissa Kluger named CSME Editor of the Year   OMDC-supported Cottage Life won again, for Magazine of the Year, Medium Circulation.

Congratulations to OMDC-supported Precedent Magazine and founder Melissa Kluger, named Canadian Society of Magazine Editors (CSME) Editor of the Year. At the event on Wednesday, June 7th, Precedent also picked up Magazine of the Year, Trade and Best Front of Book and tied with Cottage Life magazine for the Jim Cormier Award for Display Writing.
At an awards dinner and fête at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto on April 27, 2017, the Canadian Magazine Awards |Grands prix du magazine announced the winners of the inaugural Magazine Grands Prix. The awards fête was held in conjunction with MagNet: Canada’s Magazine Conference, and hosted by journalist Sophie Durocher, with opening remarks from Candy Palmater, broadcaster, writer, comedian and film and TV producer.

Twenty-two Canadian magazines were honoured as finalists in eight award categories for Best Magazine, honouring “excellence in class” for Canadian creative and editorial teams in content, design and reader experience.

OMDC proudly congratulates the OMDC-supported winners:

The Grand Prix for Best Multi-Platform Magazine Brand was awarded to Cottage Life for the magazine’s use of technology to enhance its identity; its commitment to engaging and expanding its relationship with readers through multiple platforms; and how effectively it infuses its content with a recognizable brand. @cottagelife

CMC Awards | Canadian Woodworking Magazine of The Year 2017

In other news, OMDC-supported Canadian Woodworking was named Magazine of the Year 2017 at the CMC Awards for magazine circulators. The awards was presented at the CDS Global Circulator cocktail reception, during the MagNet industry conference in Toronto. @CWWmagazine
