The Ontario Book Publishers Organization has launched its report on books taught in English classrooms through the province entitled Use of Canadian Books in Ontario Public and Catholic Intermediate and Secondary English Departments. The report details which books are being taught, which Canadian authors and titles were the most commonly read, and how teachers choose what is to be used in the classroom. A table of all titles collected from the survey is provided. To read this report, click here.

June 29, 2017 | OMDC Digital Dialogue Breakfast | SESSION 2 – Diversifying Audiences and Revenue Streams Though Live Events

OMDC’s June 29 Digital Dialogue Breakfast, Diversifying Audiences and Revenue Streams Through Live Events, looked at how content creators have added live experiences to traditionally mediated cultural products to offer new audience development and revenue generation opportunities: think author readings, pop up shops, eSports, and conventions. Moderator Heather Kanabe, Festival Director, The Word on the Street Book and Magazine Festival was joined by panelists Meridith Braun, VP Publishing, Digital Extremes; David Leonard, Events Director, The Walrus; and Mark Montefiore, Co-President, New Metric Media & Executive Producer, Letterkenny who shared how they created and curated premium experiences to connect with their audiences in novel ways, and explained how they diversified their revenue streams in the process.

As always, applicants can access OAP training videos for assistance using the application portal. The videos can be found on the Online Application Portal Training Videos page of the OMDC website.

OAP Quick Tip

The Portal Dashboard displays five of the most recent action items by default. To see the full list, click SHOW ALL at the bottom right corner of the Action Items table. You can also remove closed action items from the Dashboard by selecting the HIDE button to the right of the closed items.
