OMDC Program Deadlines and News

Collaboration and Innovation Fund

The Collaboration and Innovation Fund (CIF) is a pilot program developed in response to ongoing changes in the marketplace, the continued blending of content across sectors and platforms, and evolving business models. The CIF will help transform innovative and entrepreneurial ideas into goods and services, and drive growth and productivity.

The CIF provides support for projects that fit within OMDC’s mandate but currently fall outside of existing program parameters.

Deadline:
Phase One – Development Deadline: Monday, March 30, 2015 by 5:00 pm
Phase Two – Production/Implementation Deadline: Wednesday, August 12, 2015 by 5:00 pm

OMDC Research Grants

OMDC offers financial support directly to incorporated not-for-profit industry organizations undertaking research initiatives that support or complement the mandate of OMDC. Full eligibility requirements and guidelines are outlined in the OMDC Research Grant Guidelines. The last deadline for the Research Grant program in 2014-15 is Monday, March 16.
We are pleased to announce the deadlines for the Research Grant program in 2015-16:

  • Monday, June 22, 2015
  • Monday, November 9, 2015
  • Monday, March 14, 2016 (decisions for this deadline will be made after April 1, 2016)

For all upcoming deadlines, application through the Online Application Portal is now mandatory. New users to the OAP will first have to register for a user account . OAP training videos are available online and can be found on the Online Application Portal Training Videos page of the OMDC website.

OMDC-Supported Research

With funding from OMDC and support from Ryerson University, MusicOntario, a division of the Canadian Independent Music Association, conducted town hall meetings and online surveys of music industry workers in 12 communities across Southern Ontario in order to gauge the state of music industry education and infrastructure in each location and across the region as a whole. The document includes a directory and mapping of currently active recording studios, artist managers and booking agents across Ontario. To read the report, click here.

OMDC's OAP Training Videos Available Online!

We are very pleased to announce that the OAP training videos have gone live and can be found on the Online Application Portal Training Videos page of the OMDC website.

OAP Quick Tip

The Portal Dashboard displays five of the most recent action items by default. To see the full list, click SHOW ALL at the bottom right corner of the Action Items table. You can also remove closed action items from the Dashboard by selecting the HIDE button to the right of the closed items.

Insight Production’s Canada-UK co-production, How To Change The World (an OMDC Film Fund-supported documentary feature) shared this year’s Candescent Award with (T)error at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. It also won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award for editing.
