OMDC and a delegation of seven Ontario magazine professionals recently returned from the Niche Media Conference in Denver, Colorado. This is the second time OMDC has coordinated a delegation to this intimate event aimed at small-to-medium sized magazine publishers.

In the mile high city, the Ontario delegates attended panels, participated in roundtable discussions and ‘speed-dating’ meetings, and engaged in the many networking opportunities organized by the conference. The delegation returned home with valuable insight into emerging best practices, industry trends, new business models and leading-edge publishing strategies, as well as well as an expanded business network.

OMDC was excited to provide this opportunity for Ontario publishers to further their business strategies and expand their international networks in advance of the FIPP World Congress in October. Magazines Canada is hosting this biennial event taking place in Toronto for the first time. The Congress provides a platform to hear from and network with the top magazine media players from around the globe.

“It was wonderful to be completely immersed in conversation surrounding magazines, and the future of publishing. It's not something you chat to friends in other industries about, and it's even better when you can talk to people who have the desire to grow and learn more (and earn more) from this industry” Hannah Trumper, Azure Publishing Inc.

OMDC’s Matt Hilliard-Forde, Program Consultant - Magazine, thanks the Ontario participants: Jill Birch, Canadian Art; Terry Sellwood, Cottage Life; Hannah Trumper, Azure; Barbara Zatyko, Magazines Canada; Sophie Bond, Canadian Antiques and Vintage; Michael Fox, Garden Making; Darryl Simmons, Media Matters.
