Mar. 9-19 | SXSW Music and Media Festival, Austin Texas - Filmmakers and interactive producers, publishers and entrepreneurs come together at this internationally-renowned festival that draws culture and lifestyle media in the thousands and key opinion leaders in the tens of thousands. For the past eight years, the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) has created an initiative called The Canadian Blast & BBQ that has really put the Canadian Music Industry in the spotlight during the festival. For participating companies The Canadian Blast activities include:
- The Canada Stand, a four-day film/interactive/music combined trade show;
- Canadian Blast BBQ (March 14th, 2012); and the 3-day/evening Canada House at Trinity Hall (formerly Upstairs at the Paradise Cafe);
- Overall integrated Canada Blast Marketing Campaign including SXSW magazine ads, a media relations consultant, social media, and on-the-ground marketing campaign.
CIMA is proud to lead The Canadian Blast and is looking to open up this traditionally led music mission to engage Canadian companies and associations in the film and interactive sectors who may be looking for an opportunity to raise their profile at SXSW. By joining The Canadian Blast, companies can reduce cost, logistics and take advantage of the positive reputation that Canadian music enjoys at SXSW.
